Reply, flag, dispute reviews. Reviewer guidelines.

Can agents pay to remove negative reviews?

No. Reviews are only removed when they violate our Review Guidelines. There is no option to pay to have a review taken down — doing so would defeat the purpose of a public, trusted review platform.

If you disagree with a review on your profile, the most effective response is to use the Review Reply button on the review so your perspective appears alongside it.

Why is my review not showing yet?

Reviews go through verification before they appear publicly. The first thing to check depends on how the review was submitted:

  1. If your client wrote the review directly (found your profile and submitted from there), they need to click the confirmation link in the email they received. Ask them to check their inbox, spam, and promotions folders. Most missing reviews are sitting in spam waiting for that click.
  2. If you sent the request via Reviews Assistant or Ask for Reviews, there's no separate confirmation email — the link is already authenticated. If the review still isn't showing, use the message form at the bottom of this page and include the client's name and the date you sent the request.

If you're not sure which path the review took, share the client's name and email through the contact form, and we'll check.

Can I import reviews from another site?

No, we don't integrate with other review platforms. Our reviews go through a Triple Verified process, and we collect more detail about each transaction than other platforms do — so there's no way for us to confirm a review from elsewhere would meet our standards. Reviews go through verification before they appear publicly.Profiles are part of a public review record. They're created using publicly available information, sometimes by the agent and sometimes by members of the public, so consumers can read verified feedback about real estate professionals. Because of that, we don't delete profiles — removing them would reduce the transparency the platform exists to provide.

How to report a review you believe is inaccurate

If a review on your profile is inaccurate or violates our Review Guidelines, there are two steps — both required for us to investigate.

  1. Reply to the review first. Your reply is published alongside the review so anyone reading sees both perspectives.
  2. Flag the review using the Report button on the review itself, and include the specific reason and any supporting details.

Once both steps are done, the review goes into our verification queue. We may contact you for additional information, and we'll let you know the outcome of our investigation.

We don't act on review disputes that come in by email without those two steps — flagging is what triggers the formal review process.

How reviews are verified before they get published

Every review is verified before it appears on a profile through our Triple Verified process.

If a review didn't make it through, it's usually because of an unconfirmed email, missing details required by our Review Guidelines (property address, client name, transaction date), or evidence the review wasn't submitted by the actual client. Reviews copied from other platforms are also rejected — we can't confirm they were verified elsewhere, and we collect more detail about each transaction than those platforms do.

What gets a review flagged or removed

Flagged reviews are removed only when there's clear evidence they breach our Review Guidelines. Things that will get a review removed or held back:

  1. Profanity, hate speech, threats, or ads.
  2. Content the reviewer isn't willing to take legal responsibility for.
  3. Defamatory claims with no supporting proof.
  4. Separate reviews from related clients (typically couples) about the same transaction.
  5. Reviews submitted from devices owned or operated by the agent or an affiliate.
  6. Reviews copied from other platforms.
  7. Reviews missing key details like property address, client name, or transaction date.

Note: if our system detects duplicate reviews for the same transaction, they are not removed — both reviews remain visible but only count as 1 in the rankings. If a review on your profile is inaccurate or violates our Review Guidelines, there are two steps — both required for us to investigate.

How many reviews each client can leave per transaction

The rule is one review per client per transaction. Two cases worth knowing:

  1. If you represented both the landlord and the tenant on the same rental, the landlord can leave one review, and the tenant(s) can leave their own.
  2. Couples or other related clients on a single transaction get one review between them, not separate reviews about the same deal.

Our system weighs ratings differently based on these relationships, so duplicate or near-duplicate submissions are recognized and handled automatically.

Penalties for fake or manipulated reviews

Copying reviews from other platforms, posting reviews about yourself, or submitting reviews on behalf of clients all violate our Review Guidelines and are treated as cheating. When we determine an agent has enabled fake or fraudulent reviews, the penalty includes:

  1. A warning added to the profile, visible for two weeks per review found in violation.
  2. A $500 fine per violation, paid to a charity chosen by Rate-My-Agent.com.
  3. Demotion to the bottom of the rankings.

For example, three fake reviews would mean a six-week warning and a $1,500 fine. After the penalty period, the agent is also subject to a probationary period lasting twice the duration of the penalty before becoming eligible to upgrade to Pro.

If you're suspected of cheating, we'll ask the reviews to be reconfirmed and then email you for an explanation. Being straightforward is the fastest path to resolution.

I accidentally submitted multiple replies to the same review. How can I delete the duplicate replies?

If you have entered multiple replies to a single review and would like the duplicate replies removed, please email [email protected] with the subject line Request to Delete Duplicate Replies.

Please include the following information:

  • Agent name
  • Reviewer name
  • Review URL
